BTCC Season Finale Blog

The BTCC has drawn to a close for another year and what a season it was!  Obviously, for us as huge Japanese car fans, we were cheering on the Honda's and relatively new Subaru team. To think that Subaru have secured a drivers title in just the cars second year is seriously impressive, especially after all the changes TeamBMR were forced to make to the car after such a strong ending to last year.

Ash Sutton, driving a Subaru Levorg, was crowned drivers champion after a season long battle with Colin Turkington, driving a BMW 125i M Sport. The fight came right down to the final rounds at Brands Hatch GP. The fight was extended into the final race after a simply crazy drive from Colin. He came from 15th on the grid to win the second race of the day. Unfortunately a spin in front of him in race 3 took him out of contention and gave Ash the championship.

The Subaru brand winning another different championship is a simply amazing achievement. Considering the rallying heritage and background now into BTCC, Subaru can claim something that few brands can, they have been proven winners in touring cars, rally cars and Nurbugring specials!

The moral of the story, go Subaru and go Japanese cars!
